Privacy by Design Ambassador Program Ending Dec. 31, 2015
Over the past five years, the ambassador program has recognized the contribution of individuals and organizations from around the world who have joined with us to encourage a proactive approach to the protection of privacy. We would like to extend our gratitude to all ambassadors for advancing this important work.
The appointment of our new Commissioner has presented an opportunity for us to reflect on our work and our mandate to oversee compliance with access and privacy legislation in the province of Ontario. After careful consideration, we have decided to shift our focus to assisting municipal and provincial institutions and health information custodians in addressing the access and privacy rights of Ontarians.
While our commitment to Privacy by Design remains strong, we will be winding down the ambassador program at the end of 2015. At the same time, we will be closing the Privacy by Design website and moving our papers and other core resources to the IPC website. Although we will no longer be posting ambassador profiles on our website, ambassadors are welcome to continue to identify themselves with this designation.
We would again like to thank all of our ambassadors for helping us grow Privacy by Design into a globally recognized framework for the protection of privacy and wish them continued success in promoting this proactive approach.
Note: The Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) is an independent officer of the Legislature whose mandate is to oversee compliance with public sector access and privacy legislation and health sector privacy legislation in the province of Ontario.
The IPC recognizes ambassadors based on their attestations that they apply the principles of Privacy by Design. The IPC does not endorse any company or product of any recognized ambassador.
