Yoram Hacohen was appointed in 2006 to establish and lead Israel's new data protection authority – the Israeli Law, Information and Technology Authority (ILITA). ILITA is the Israeli regulator for three aspects of data protection: privacy and personal data protection, credit information services and digital signatures.

Prior to his position in ILITA Mr. Hacohen was VP at Securenet Ltd., a data security integrator and Israel’s first PKI certification authority. Mr. Hacohen was also Managing Director at Musicnotes Ltd., and Editor in Chief at CDI systems Ltd., both companies involved in electronic publishing and software development.

Mr. Hacohen represents Israel at international forums about data protection, such as the international conference of data protection commissioners, the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP) committee of the OECD, IAPP and the European commission.

Mr. Hacohen’s Education is: L.LB, Faculty of Law, Hebrew University, Jerusalem (1991); MBA (cum laude), Recanati School of management, Tel-Aviv University (2000). Mr. Hacohen is a member of the Israeli Bar association since 1992 and an adjacent lecturer at the Haifa center for law & technology, Faculty of Law, Haifa University where he currently teaches a course about “Electronic Evidence and Computer Crimes".
